I have noticed that some program roles formerly occupied by some who were laid off are now being backfilled by Engineer staff using the same title .. is this legal?

There’s limited or minimal protections for US workers. If you want protection, you’re gonna have to move to Europe.

Yes. You can be terminate for any reason or no reason. Then any company can do what they want. This is so for profit companies can do what they need to do to keep moving forward and better. Fair is giving people a package as they did not have to do that to anyone. Don’t complain.
