Many companies now want their employees to be in the office. Even the ones which allowed WFH pre-covid. Is moonlighting the reason? Because of some greedy people vast majority got affected. Shocking to hear people working 3-4 jobs. They not only take other people's opportunity during this difficult times, but a menace to the society.

Gail had plans to end WFH before Covid, Covid just derailed her. My boss at the time had shared that with me in 2019. Its her Boomer mentality that makes her believe that you have to be "in and office" vs at home. The only way this changes is with new leadership who isn't locked into that 1980 mentality.
yes I had two jobs, I was doing the work of 2.5 people for Hellevance.
I had another job. I was a participant in a sleep study.
I don't answer pings right away unless it's my boss. Everyone else can wait until I'm at stopping point. I won't be derailed by every perceived fire drill. You need something? Take a number. You're waiting too long? Tell my boss if it bothers you that much. Otherwise I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
I was RIF’d 2.5 years ago but was of retireable age and was hoping to be RIF’d so was thankful when it happened.
I had a co-worker who was WFH and although not proven without a shadow of a doubt, I can almost swear he has a 2nd day time job. It always takes a long time (sometimes hours) before he responds to a ping or even e-mail. He invariably shows himself as ‘Away’ even though he has been told numerous times he should show himself as green or red when he is working. I am surprised he has not been laid off yet. I think he has been re-badged to Deloitte since then. I hope Deloitte does a better job of holding him accountable.
Moonlighting was a great series. Bruce Willis was soooo hot when he was young.
Ok - I have never posted but I have to say something based on all these posts
- if you know someone is working a second job - report them - WTF - sit down and shut up
- Simultaneous meetings - are you kidding me - how do you allow that to happen? How does your boss - how the heck can you pay attention?
- I am in RED all day - it doesn't matter - people will Ping you regardless - its not a Trauma Center - wait your turn
I swear I don't understand why we have to disclose "second jobs" to this chit hole - Gail is on multiple boards that we manage those accounts - IS THAT ETHICAL?
I am not in Sales, I am in Operations, if I want to tend bar at night, or walk the streets, or pick up trash or what the heck ever that is my business
What a joke most people I work woth dont have the brain function to work one job no way they could attempt more
@a7 Maybe person can’t stand your a-s and that’s why they aren’t responding right away? Maybe you just drain people with your pettiness so they drag their feet to respond. Maybe they are watching a training video and don’t want to pause to respond to you. Maybe they are in a chat with someone else and busy? Maybe they are putting together a pointless PowerPoint and trying to get it done. You assume way too much. You sound whiny and entitled.
@a7 How often is this really happening? You sound paranoid. If person is coming into the office and you know for a fact they are working two jobs then report them. You can do this anonymously. This seems like you are trying to drum up some unnecessary drama. I’m not doubting people do this , I think you are blowing it out of proportion for reasons that escape me.
@a7 why do you have so much time on your hands that you can spend all your time worrying about what your coworkers are doing. I turned off my Teams notifications because I hate the ping sound. I can be on green status and not respond to someone on teams right away because I’m engrossed in a labor intensive task. Ie writing a query that makes me lose track of time. Get over yourself.
It is not about people who work so hard to do 3-4 jobs to support their family. But people who work as FTE or contractors in their regular work hours having multiple work laptops in their work stations attending meetings simultaneously. If you see your team mate in green status but does not respond for long time, thats your red flag.
@OP you sound like a troll. Some people have to work 3-4 jobs to make ends meet because greedy companies and shareholders don’t want to miss out on profit to pay people a decent wage. Look at your merit increase. They do not keep up with cost of living increases.
If you’d like to understand why other people get second jobs, get a divorce. I 100% don’t want a second job but have no other choice.
I’ve read a few articles over the past couple of years where people have two full time jobs. I think it happens but not to the extent you want to make it. RTO is to protect tax breaks and support other businesses our leadership is possibly in bed with. Also is old people like Gloria MCCarthy who think they know best but can’t change their thinking or let younger generations take over. We are just cogs on the wheel where industry needs the cash we generate by going into the office. Maybe be innovative and come up with a new business model. This isn’t a long term solution just a bandaid to keep their 1% friends from losing too much money in this changing world. We are suffering because of old bi--hes who think they are right and will stay in the board till they die.
First off, you’re allowed to have other jobs if properly disclosed to your manager and the company. People were working 2nd jobs before Covid so don’t act like this is news. How are they taking other people’s opportunities when this company would throw them out like garbage? You sound like a lot of fun at parties.
