IT, Finance and Commercial are expected to layoff ~300 people in 2 waves starting with IT in early Q3 2025. A majority of operational support for IT will be moved to outsourced providers. Major IT restructuring will be done using the “spans and layers” concept suggested by BCG to reduce management layers.

@mdn Really? No one will answer that! They would be crazy to. The just admitted to milking it dry. They wouldn't want to lose that gravy train.
@mdk what group were you cut from?
@mdj there are more coming. Next year.
Is this the last layoff for 2025 or will we see something in December?
People are all over the place here. Blame everywhere but where it belongs.
@md8 don't be fooled. This isn't the last cut. You need to learn to read inbetween the l i n e s.
@md7 That's some pretty terrible advice you bootlicking piece of sh**. Did you ever stop to think that maybe it's not going to be all rainbows and marshmallows when people can't afford everyday life let alone things like Christmas presents. Layoffs lead to financial problems which leads to divorce and breaking families apart. Since you speak with the authority of someone who is in the know, please don't decieve yourself into thinking everyone is going to come out this situation without bad things happening to them because of this company's terrible decisions made over and over again by terrible leaders who do not listen or care about the devastation left in their wake.
@mck don't worry the CEO says this was the final reduction. See transparency. I'm glad they didn't make a huge mistake and keep the same ones in power that got us here... Oh wait.
Despite all the hate and random post on here. I want to let everyone know who was let go that it’s not a you thing. It’s the holidays focus on time with your friends and family!
Extortion for severance by design. Uncaring by choice. What a terrible company.
@mck you should ABSOLUTELY get out now while you can and not have to beg for a job later. Can’t hurt to look!
Terrible company. ICARE my a-s.
The results of some terrible decisions that were made have been revealed today. There doesn’t appear to be any silver lining to this. While I am still employed with the company, I think I might go ahead and get out in front of the next one.
To all those laid off today, I wish you the best and I’m sorry it happened to you. To all those who posted a warning about layoffs on today’s date, thank you. To those of you who rejected it as only rumors and told us to stop - you can shut up now.
@mc9 I agree - I left a while back, I feel for all the employees being let go. As for the company it is nice to see that ship sinking.
@mc7 I agree. The people being let go are the ones that made this company run and be successful. They are cutting themselves off at the knees. The “leaders” are the nerdy kids that got picked on in school and now have the inferiority complex. But now I’m with a competitor as well, I will enjoy watching the ship burn!
Chevron or P66…if you’re reading this, you need to know leadership has lost all respect from the employees and you can’t run a company when no wants to follow a leader. You just dropped billions into projects that you won’t get a payout for many many years if at all based off of these so called “leaders”. Clean house and actually bring experts from the chemical industry to right the ship. Otherwise, you’re throwing good money after bad.
Burn baby burn!
I left the company for a direct competitor awhile back and I can tell yall it’s been the best decision of my career.
CPChem is filled with talented, wonderful people who made this company special for a long time. We’ve just been commanded (not led) by a bunch of chucklefu-ks who shouldn’t run a lemonade stand but managed to fail up the ladder.
For those of you who are now looking for a job or suspect you will be soon: it can be scary out there, but it can also be much better.
To those who have been impacted by the layoffs, please know that this moment does not define you. You will come out stronger and better positioned for the next chapter in your career. When updating your resume, be sure to list “Reduction in Force” next to your time at CPChem, as it provides important context for your departure.
I voluntarily left CPChem years ago because I could no longer tolerate the verbal abuse and bullying that were part of the culture. After joining a company with a healthier and more supportive environment, it took me a while to adjust. After being so used to being abused for years…I felt like a rescue dog, instinctively jumping back, bracing myself even when my new manager was simply extending a helping hand.
If you are feeling the same way right now, please remember healing and growth take time, but they do come. You deserve to work in a place where you are respected, valued, and supported. Better days are ahead.
I left a while back, but my prayers are for you all being laid off. It’s better to get out of this mess than to stay with a terribly ran company. There’s hope on the other side.
@m8 Manufacturing layoffs are today.
@m8z you are not safe. It does not matter where you work.
If you received an individual Teams Meeting invitation early tomorrow morning, you will be laid off. This pertains to Corporate Staff, Finance, Commerical and Procurement. Mostly CAC's, LAC's, AP, a handful of Sales, Product Managers and Business Analyst.) Also, likely some Finance positions at the plants. Manufacturing layoffs are coming by April 1st, or before.
@m8n some sources suggest that it will be mostly corporate employees. Restructering of engineering roles and responsbilties are in the works. There will be a 3rd wave after that. The parent company wants to see these layoffs.
@m8e I’ve been told by multiple sources that 130 are going tomorrow - HQ and Plants and all different groups. I’m gone but it’s a relief to be out of it- good luck everyone
Any word on which departments are getting slashed? Heard leadership said there was “a lot of fat at Cedar”
Whatever that means
@m8e If you got a meeting notice you are being let go. Sorry
Who else has this meeting invite? Are we gon'ners?
We should change our slogan to Mismanagement by design, Layoffs before the holidays by choice.
@m6b Yes
Is round 2 tomorrow?
Speaking of the “mean girls” in HR, someone filed yet another complaint against “Law More” and all they did was have a conversation with her. She’s part of their circle, so of course they’re going to protect her.
@m4j they were talking about the HR team and let’s be real.CPCHEM doesn’t think IT is really a skilled position. Look who they chose to be over it at all at CPCHEM.
Those IT Managers at the Plant are very much qualified. Deep Technical background and decades of experience in Infrastructure support and plant operations, and yes they happened to be all white. But hey, they have all the qualifications for that position.
@m3t heard that too. Why would they do anything? No one is even looking at them now and how they operated this whole time.
It really just has become might as well leave as nothing will change.
The funny thing is that not one of them even the VP could pass for an HR admin anywhere else.
It is true. The 2nd round of layoffs will happen soon and then there will be a 3rd wave. It is unfortunate to do this with the holidays coming up. The powers that be have decided.
@kpa why are you on this forum then if you’re upset? This site is quite literally for rumors and speculation…
@knp you are just saying the 7th because they “always fire on a friday” which isn’t true.
Stupidity and more rampant people wanting to be the people who know!
The only people on here that know are the HR spies that spread misinformation and watch.
@knp if that is truly the case then do you feel some sort of superiority in basically being a mole? A turncoat under the cloak of anonymity? Or a sadist knowing that you have given people something to talk about? How pathetic. Karma is watching
@kc3 Who told you it’s on 11/7? Was it HR, your supervisor, someone higher up on the command chain? If you can’t provide additional information then stop spreading rumors.
@kbv I was told on the 7th but who really knows
Any emails calls for HR meetings this week as with round 1?
