Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Tracking the wrong thing

The company should put the effort spent tracking employees into keeping track of their restricted data. Focused on the wrong thing again.

January report was most faulty and still it was used to terminate employees under cobc. Still they didn’t correct it. If a simple thing such a big company couldn’t correct then how they can put someone under cobc when there was no clear message or warning. This company should be exposed in media and court to face compliance issues. Trump was absolutely right with this company.

But we have Dynamic Defense and new deals with Palo Alto. We know cybersecurity better than anyone. Well, except for those three breaches going public in recent years. Other than that, we're #1!!

The problem is they even can not make it right for 6 months? If the report always wrong, why bother to publish every week?

You could summarize it as just lacking.

Lack of technical capability and expertise to do this.

I think this is spot on. The company should take a detailed, objective look into how the resources spent tracking employees is really improving the bottom line. I suspect that the "payback" is minimal at best (perhaps even negative). I say that as a seasoned professional who worked for several large companies before AT&T. Professional employees don't typically thrive in this kind of atmosphere, and these tracking activities are unlikely to motivate professionals to do their best work. Meanwhile, AT&T has experienced significant data breaches and is losing its edge by several key indicators, including customer satisfaction and innovation.

C-suite takes the short bus to the office, they’ll learn this in a couple of years.
