Just got my notice that my position is being eliminated. Notice starts today but I have to work through July 3. I knew this was coming for months and was looking forward to it but now that it’s here I’m not sure how I feel.

@c4 total rewards incentive comp
@b6 what team or group?
I recommend you “work” not work through Jul 3 as much as possible.
Sorry the displacement reaper scythe got you (and continues to mow down good employees). My name has not yet come up. Interestingly, 8 yrs ago WF was a better environment for me, after displacement by AT&T/Directv. The ongoing cutbacks, odd strategic location mandates, and so much more have tainted the work environment.
Same for me today. HR in CA. Was hoping to get all 60 non-working days. Why they are making us stay till the 3rd is beyond me, and still need to maintain RTO requirements which is ridiculous at this point.
I imagine you are feeling exactly the same way that I would feel. I am about 30 years into my career in general and held a lot of different positions, a few where the company went through massive layoffs. And I knew hundreds of people who got laid off, and I have to say that every single one of them ended up in a better situation! Sometimes the universe just has a way of looking out.
@aa you're an a-s
@ad thank you! I appreciate all the kind messages. Not like the dork below who feels the need to belittle me for having emotions lol
Not OP but NorCal tech bsc laid off today.
It's totally normal to feel that way...conflicting emotions. I had a sense of relief almost immediately but dealt with an array of emotions (anger at what the company has turned into, sadness for the job I once loved (pre HY.)) After some time, I've been able to let go of all of that and appreciate the new position I found in a much more positive environment. It takes some time to get past the PTSD and detox, but eventually you will and will feel SO MUCH better overall. Best wishes to you!
@a6 well said. I felt exactly the same way.
"I knew this was coming for months and was looking forward to it but now that it’s here I’m not sure how I feel."
Geezuz, is this how you figure out your sh-t?
You need to get your head sc--wed on straight.
@a6 you are so right about that. I appreciate your input.
I was the same way. I knew it was coming for about 8 months but when it happened a whole different set of emotions came through. Even when you are expecting it, it still hits a bit different when it actually happens. For me, after a few weeks I felt a huge weight lifted. Working in those conditions is a lot more stressful than we realize at the time. See it as a blessing and for better things to come. It took me about a month to feel like it was the best thing for me, now I can't imagine working there again under the current environment. It is unhealthy to be in a negative and toxic environment.
@a3 thank you. And fortunately I knew this was coming and have been applying and interviewing. Hoping something worthwhile happens.
@a2 my apologies. Strategic execution, incentive compensation COE. West Des Moines.
I’d start the job search immediately while on the clock pre July 3
Best of luck.
Location / group, OP. You know the rules.
Best of luck at your next gig!
@OP which area?
