Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Att focused on fiber and vz focused on fixed wireless

Verizon is betting on fixed wireless as the future. When will it happen?

"I'd rather take 1 million new fiber customers a year than 1 million new fixed wireless customers a quarter," AT&T CEO John Stankey said. "The value equation of those 1 million fiber customers is a far superior value equation for the long haul for our shareholders."

That's nonsense. FWA customers are way more valuable.

That is what they did with wireless. Just buy out the medium and small companies after they've done all the heavy lifting.

Verizon has the right idea. Let smaller startups lace the neiborhoods with fiber. Buy/acquire small startups. Case closed.

When a duopoly becomes a triopoly, there will of course be an initial shift of curious subscribers who had bad experiences at one of the two carriers prior.

Magenta’s net adds are kind of like winning “most improved”. You might win it due to your merits, you might win it because you fu---d up initially and are just getting your bearings now. Either way. This doesn’t last because there is a finite amount of subscribers in the US that will inevitably go with one of the three, or an MVNO.

Don’t believe a word Stankey says. Look how DIRECTV and Time Warner acquisitions turned out. Guess who was at the forefront of those…bingo.

Seems like Wireless isn’t delivering. 8,000 3rd quarter adds down from 12,000 2nd quarter adds. Pathetic numbers and it’s only getting worse. Magenta is kicking your a$$.

Yes. Fiber means you’re bolstering your offerings in a Geographic Monopoly. More margin than FWA at $25/mo.

As a customer, VZ has the more attractive offer because AT&T has no such similar product.

Why can’t vz fiber teams deliver?

Verizon fiber teams can’t deliver though. Wireless can.

Multiple WFH front line reps that I know of have asked about using our Fixed wireless for their job and were multiple times that it was not allowed. Think about that for a second.
