Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Verizon is bleeding bad, loss of substantial amount of post paid subscribers

Is it time to find new employment? I work as a retail specialist and is it really worth it staying? I haven't seen a 1.3 in quite some time and everyday patrons walk in requesting for final bill and transfer pin numbers

V is going down because people are too smart for their free stuff campaign... If you're younger, get out while you can... If you're an old squatter, hang on for a package. But, big Red is hoping you'll just quit because you can't stand the recycled sales promotions that don't bring anyone to the stores. By the way, handing over V stores to Authorized is like tossing an old cheesecake, nobody goes there either expect old folks to pay bill... Lol

Former employee here. I tell anybody I know considering an upgrade or a new phone to go to a MVNO. I pay $60 for two lines with no fluff. The service uses Verizon towers but I haven’t noticed a big difference in service and I’ve used my phone in NYC, DC, Vegas, Hawaii and Europe. I feel for the folks on the frontline.

It is the trend for all the big telcos to lose subscribers . Nobody is going into the stores anymore. customers don't even show up for a new phone anymore. This is cause they are buying used or ones online from amazon. So where are the customers moving to....well..... It is the internet phone companies like us cellular. The internet companies don't have a store. So what is happening over the last 15yrs is the cost for offshore has exceeded the profit. That means the banks won't loan to the big telcos anymore as they are in decline. It means not stop never ending layoffs. The trend is for customers to leave the overpriced telco plans. They just don't need the store anymore. The store is obsolute. The telcos will downsize for a quite a while. It is also possible the federal govern might break the big telcos up again to promote innovation. It has happened before.

Outdated retail model ... Pushing the dead stores to Authorized Retailer... Rediculous... They are also empty... VZ should get rid of sales labor and start making money.

I had verizon for almost 16 years. It became too expensive. I switch to a MVNO, US Mobile, to be exact. I love saving money.

Customers leaving en mass. Verizon still getting record profits. That's gotta tell ya something. This company has turned on it's principles that made it successful in the first place. Just like when Intel decided that the employees didn't matter, just the stock mattered. You saw a drastic decline in investors with them. Same thing will happen here, mark my words.

Get out why you can. Same thing in Customer Service leadership. Leadership as a whole is not good. On the Customer Service side constant changes, moving people around, people going to HR, etc. Its a total sh1t show! Best of luck!

Post ID: @cm+1jx801kms - 100%! The expectations are unreal. HPUs are creating so much anxiety, making it hard to assist people. Sales on service? Who wants to even look at an account with a service issue? God forbid you even process a trade return to store without getting hit with HPUs. Logic has been removed.

Yeah retail sales is terrible right now. I agree with other poster, it should be and should have always been about quantity. Except they want to nickel and dime the customers to death and until they leave. Think of buying a car. They don't nickel and dime you to death. They add a couple choice extras on that are worth while to the buyer and seller. Verizon is lucky the job market is down because that's the only reason they have any new employees ATM. They need to figure something out and figure it out yesterday. There is so much wrong with the front line roll right now. They are putting all the blame on us when we were the ones who locked everyone in at Christmas and then jacked up the price two months later..

We don't have leaders here anymore. We have pencil pushing middle managers repeating nonsense from people with no capacity to execute a vision beyond telling you that you don't know how to do your job.

KZ and crew need to get out from behind their desks and stop being armchair QBs and hit the floor with a tablet and practice what they preach. If he can take time out of your day to rip you a new one, he can get off his a-s and pick up a tab and learn to navigate the dumpster fire PS and take an earful trying to accomplish what used to take 5 minutes in an hour over the phone with Care.

HPUs have done nothing but make the front line have absolute disdain for helping customers.

New customer does 5 BYODs, I hope they don't turn into HPUs in a few weeks when they come back and see you after they tell you Care jacked up the account.

Legit loyal customer for 15+ years lost their phone and don't have promos? Tell'em to pound sand because we don't care about their business because they don't have an arbitrary tile on their account.

And get ready for the BYOD+ promos to start counting as HPUs or better yet, get churned out because we're just slammin and crammin the sh-t out of them.

I heard Sr Directors are telling the front line to CPE every trade in, because it's free and VZ needs to be "net zero". Absolutely pathetic.

That isn't sales, it's BS that the company literally chased reps out of the business for doing last year. But now the pin heads at the top, who probably never even sold a phone to begin with, are pushing an agenda they practically executed people over.

Poor leadership... they need to worry more about quantity and stop pushing the "extras" that make people walk because of monthly price. A customer walks, forget the bulk pay and the extras
