I’ve accepted the fact that I could lose my job at any moment. I make a point of regularly sending out resumes, working my contacts, and keeping my skills, especially the in-demand ones, up to date. It helps me stay grounded and keeps me from feeling like a prisoner completely at the whims of upper management. Getting the occasional interview or offer, even if it’s not worth pursuing, is genuinely uplifting.

I think that’s smart. You can get out of practice in some skills only doing your current job. Interviewing while on job is hard to juggle for me. Feels like a full time thing.
