If you need to take 2+ weeks to take care of yourself or your family, take FMLA.

The 2 weeks isn’t for FMLA. It is if you want to go some place and work from there, like some have vacation homes
There is documentation required -- I took FMLA last year to care for a parent and it required a note from the doctor describing the circumstances.
Unless it has changed, it's not that easy.
