Let my start out by saying my boss never knows when to keep his trap shut. He's an oversharer and it is never for good reasons. He wants to be one of the cool kids. Makes promises to our customers he cant keep and worse, to me. He is a bafoon, buy all this is why I usually get to prepare for whatever load of cr-p is coming down the pipe. During a call yeaterday he let it slip that plans are underway for all of professional services to be FUnctionalized. They want it to be staffed overseas, largly India and Manilla. Those call centers will support all products as one team. Over the past year and a half they have had issues and are now sending managers over there to data dump their knowledge. This is going to be a train your replacement situation. If you doubt it, just ask around if anyone is being asked to document their day to day process. The end game is less overhead expense. Cheaper labor, controlled employee enviornment and less managers needed in the US (Of course my boss thinks they will report to him and he needed to brag thats why he " accidentally" let the cat out of the bag. Now I am more stressed than ever. I dont know who I hate more him or Mckinsey. I am sure I will hear more in the weeks to come. Maybe it will be our October Surprise or more likely our Christmas gift.

Why you think they turned off the questions during the last all hands? Sad thing is we're talking about people who are literal millionaires and they could cut back a little so that others could have a decent quality of life, but they're greedy.
What is "professional services" considered? This is just the way of the world unfortunately. When I first started here, 75-80% of our development teams were on shore and only 15-20% were offshore. Now, it's the other way around. The offhore teams aren't as good, but they are much cheaper so they don't care. It's a sad reality.
What business unit is this under?
That’s old news my friend. Freeze all US new hires. Offshore all new hires. Salaries are too high in the US. Canadians are 30% cheaper.
