Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Layoff or Fired

How do I get laid off?
I want to be able to collect unemployment.

If I don’t comply with in person office requirements, can they fire me for cause?

What do I do?

@OP+1jvw44xhx Just argue with your manager and tell them you hate Fiserv and start doing gossip about Frank and the CEO out loud.

It's not that hard to be fired.

In GA, you can collect unemployment if you are fired because they don't like your performance. It might be hard to get that as your reason, as they could try to get you on a policy violation if the performance is low.

If you are a really big shitbag to deal with you won't get unemployment. Easiest way is just go take walks during the day all the time. Sapience will be triggered if it's extreme and someone in HR will force your manager to fire you.

Talk to a lawyer, not showing up in the office maybe considered simple misconduct and you maybe eligible after a waiting period. This various greatly by state

Let your boss know that you would like to be the next one on the chopping block. It has worked for my friends. That's how you will collect severance package.
If you get fired with cause then you may not get a severance package.

The criteria can vary by state. You would need to talk to a lawyer for your state for specific details. If they change your work location then that could be constructive dismissal and you would (usually) be able to claim unemployment.

I worked with a coworker for fifteen years. He quit to work at a different job. I saw him a few months later and he was more relaxed than I have ever seen him. Consider finding a new employer, it might be as relaxing as an extended vacation.

If you dont adhere to a job requirement and get fired, 99% you won't get unemployment. To qualify for unemployment you had to have been let go at no fault of your own. When RIFs happen, those people likely will qualify UNLESS performance / non-adherance was documented as or part of the reason. This is based on my personal experience with NJ unemployment. Your milage may vary - but if you give them a reason, they'll fire you with cause and you won't be eligible in any state. We all want to do nothing and collect free money but come on that's not how life works. If you want out of Fiserv and to have money coming in, the only solution is grow up and find a new job.

Anon,
Is there a wink wink implied during step 1?

Step 1: work hard and be a good employee

Step 2: eventually you will receive a calendar invite for a 1 on 1 with your manager’s manager

Step 3: Get laid off
