Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Hypothetical question (severance pay)

Just curious…if you use up your severance, work somewhere else for a short period, but then get rehired at Humana soon enough to retain your previous years of service, what does that mean for any future severance pay? In other words, if you’re rehired but impacted by another RIF, does accumulated severance pay start over from scratch, regardless of total # of years?

The severance calculation starts over. If your position is eliminated again, the time is calculated from the date you came back. You won’t get paid severance all over again.

There’s a formula used when you return. Used to be you had to return within a year, but now you get your years minus those years gone if under three years. So if I worked at Humana 10 years, left for 2 and came back, those 10 years will be credited and your new tenure added.

I mean you're automatically re-vested in the 401k plan. It's a valid question.

It depends on when you return. Read the reinstatement policy in the Associate Support Center. It should help.

Once you leave and come back, you start all over. Prior service does not count towards anything.
