Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Offshore costs and losing your jobs

BH average salary/ $80k
India average salary: $25k

do the math.

SVPs bank the difference in labor costs in their annual budget. so let’s say they move 50 FTE per year offshore. In FIG it’s triple that amount as they won’t backfill anything onshore (JG and now his protege Ryan who is as bad as Gibblets

They then take those savings and post numbers below forecast.

What happens then? They get huge bonus for beating their cost targets. like 7 figure bonus.

The rest of us are asked to work nights and weekends to cover. and they even try to incentivize with BS points.

I’ve heard them say ‘we’ll pay extra points to implement 100 more projects this month.

why is that?

because they get 6 figure bonus each quarter if they do it.

what does anyone else get? a 2% raise and told you should be so lucky as to work here.

absolute sc-m - and they couldnt care less so long as their bonus hits.

Contractors can’t be held to the same standards. All Fiserv can do is tell the company and they laugh

People are fed up with all the rules and sapience doesn’t seem to mean much.. and I’ve wondered if contractors are even on sapience.. reason I say this hmmm Omaha 6855 has “contractors “ easily conversing in the halls and galleys several hours a day… I certainly can’t be away from my desk that long

India is $25k per trained resource. i’ve seen the finance costs.

RC is as bad as Gibblets.

it’s appalling

they get massive bonus while they demand the front lines work 50 hours per week to pay for it for them.

In addition to the 9 hour mandate and sapience policy, all employees are now being asked to wear size 25 shoes, a red nose, and red curly hair. Its to fit the new work uniform, circus clown style

The 1/3 cost for offshore is a myth. This is only the case for the freshers who have no work experience. An experienced person was about 1/2 the cost. But then you need to fund the bench of trained up contractors ready to backfill the inevitable turnover AND you need to pay for leadership for every x number of contractors. The end "all-in" cost is closer to 80% of an onshore FTE.

Have you seen all résumé’s we get? There aren’t enough Americans applying. They only want startups and FAANG! The ones who do apply ghosts us after we mention 5 day onsite.

In case you didn’t notice, it is onshore as well. Where I sit, Americans are a small minority compared to Indians. Don’t tell me H1B works because there aren’t enough Americans to fill the jobs. Also let’s not forget our limit for vacations is 2 consecutive weeks, but if you go home to India 3 weeks or 4 is the norm

Coinbase had a "hack" last week that was caused by an offshore customer service employee that sold company information. Makes ya wonder how safe fiserv data is.

There is plenty of blame to go around. The US govt won't push back on corps and enforce decent rules for h1b and other remote worker types, but especially h1b.

The foreign government want those US dollars flowing in so they encourage cheating at the college and certification levels, and look the other way when recruiters and outsourcing companies assist in that cheating or grow a reputation of lying to foreign hiring companies.

Finally the people who scam, cheat, or lie their way into these roles that have little to no clue how to perform them; in the hopes of getting a fatter than average paycheck for their locality don't help matters any either.

Then the management hiring the outsourcing just looks the other way when 90% of the outsourced people aren't fit to do the job. Ironicly that is also just helping that small group of skilled and knowledgeable people be denigrated for not knowing the job either when they're the only ones that do but are lumped in with the others.

It's a bad system all around and everyone but the the government and managers get the short end of the stick.
