Mutual separation possibly due to new grade levels coming?

Rumors that the mutual spearations doled out were in preps for grade level ups and combines. Rumor is that two grade levels will be rolled into one master grade, with the lower of the two obtaining a promtion to the higher and pay increase, whilst the higher does not. Can anyone condirm hearing any of the same chatter?

I don't think there's zero point in speculation. Its worth a conversation so that people are aware to question what is happening. The company is making it sound like this great change which will be beneficial for people's career but it might not be. That remains to be seen. Maybe it won't make any difference other than the job title and grade change. I don't think grade 17s will be sc--wed any more than anyone else if anyone is getting sc--wed at all. I think lower grades being's merged with higher grades might get a slight boost in morale even without a pay increase. I think higher graded being merged with lower graded (especially within the same department) might feel a little bit sc--wed if they have more work/ responsibility than people who are the same grade as them. We'll see soon enough. Just think about the question you'll ask your leader.

There is zero point in speculation here. Your manager will have all the details that apply to your situation.
Go ahead and ask what it means for your salary, promotion track, and so on.

I have confirmation that some T24 and T25 received salary increases, but not everyone did. Does anyone the criteria ?

If 24/25 are being combined then it seems fairly logical that 22/23 will be combined and 18/19. There could be an argument here for the higher grade being demoted. For departments with different grades and responsibilities being merged, I think it could be viewed that way. It is certainly job dilution if the grades are merged and the responsibilities remain unchanged. Could this potentially affect career progression as previously "senior" grades will not be viewed as such. leadership is promoting these changes as improvements to progression and market alignment, in practice it may lead to flattened structures and slower advancement. When your leader contacts you to advise of the changes they will probably try to sell this as a good thing. I am skeptical. They will likely want some sort of buy in or agreement that we are happy with the changes which i will not easily agree to without asking questions to clarify the above concerns. I would strongly urge everyone to carefully consider how they approach this "chat". Considering the recent mutual separations, this could very well be a prelude to further layoffs.

the grade level changes are confirmed, but I haven't heard anything about salary increase for the lower levels when there's a grade combination.
