During a recent meeting with the HR team, the Directors and Associate Vice Presidents (AVPs) were given clear and specific instructions to eliminate certain Principal-land Lead level roles within their respective teams. The conversation was highly targeted and left little ambiguity regarding the roles under scrutiny.

It ridiculous to cut that level. Cut the VP SVP. Those who do not contribute
It figures as employees were made Principal due to their skill set, years of service and or performance so they want to get rid of all the Senior folks and those most knowledgeable. I am not saying other titles are not as knowledgeable only that it takes a lot to become Principal. The real joke is the "Expert" title now that is for friends and family the majority of the time and everybody knows it.
