Is there life after Verizon? It doesn't seem like it. I got rif'd and went home to sulk as they suggested. It's boring nobody is hiring, too close to the hollerdaze. Money is not really the issue as I git paid through the end of the year with severance after that. I can't believe I got rif'd, i was a good employee. I've been told by my manager that a lot of good employees were cut with the ringers. That doesn't make me feel better.

As a VSP’er my advice is to start looking as soon as you can. “Nobody is hiring” is just not true - that is an all or nothing statement that is distorted thinking. I say this because I had that same thought along with “I’m too old, no one will hire me.’ fast forward 4 years and I am making more money and happier at my current company than I’ve ever been. Good luck.
You will be so much better off. Got out last year, and come back here to preach to those like you who think there is no life after VZ. Can tell you first hand once you get out you will never look back or want to go back! Plus I invest in telecom so I like to make sure my shorting of VZ stock is still the play. Reading this board always confirms nothing has changed and until VZ leadership changes the company and stock will remain in the toilet. Made more investing in TMUS than I would have working for VZ last year. Thanks Hans!

Yes, lots of companies that see VZ on the resume know the worth, especially if its one of the customers you were supporting. However, i guess that will depend on what group/area you were in and was customer facing. Hate to say, but enjoy the holidays and get after it Jan 1st!
It's true. There are some good folks that got cut.
