Has anyone heard that we’re merging with another bank? I’ve been hearing rumblings…

Why is the question getting so many down votes? It's just a question, they didn't say the bank "was" getting sold, just looking to substantiate rumors. Man, you bank folks are really weird.

I certainly hope so, I’m cheering for it no doubt. To he-l with this place!

The last thing USB wants to do is accelerate our move to Category II (over 700B in total assets) by buying Truist. I don't see us doing much until we are approaching Cat2 (2027). Also unlikely that a larger bank acquires us in the near term given the current cost of capital and economic uncertainty.

I heard that Citi, BofA, Wells, and US Bank are all merging into one huge mega bank. Then when JP Morgan Chase starts to fail the mega bank will buy it too. Then the US government will seize the bank for being too large and run it from the Treasury Dept.

G.K. is a short term CEO. She’s here to push a deal through and walk away with a big bag 💰. Wait and see.

I have heard Truist from reputable sources. But I wonder with this fabulous new leader if that’ll be possible. I don’t think it would be a merger as much as it would be an acquisition since we’re bigger than Truist.

No, but we see people in the Truist board keep coming here bringing that false narrative up. US Bank would merge with dozens of other banks than Truist - if anything US Bank is in a position to acquire or sell off profitable divisions - they have no need/desire to merge, especially the likes of Truist..stop bringing that false narrative to this board.

USB is terrible at growing their footprint on their own. It will be Truist. We already rent floors in their building in Charlotte and one has to wonder why are so many USB execs visiting Charlotte. To work out a deal.

Nothing definitive but speculation from some that they wanted to grow into the eastern US. Not sure who any candidates would be (if any)
