Thread regarding Global Payments Inc. layoffs

Don't lull yourself into a false sense of security

One, layoffs are coming. Two, the brass doesn't believe in irreplaceable employees. The moment they find someone who'll do your work for less pay, you're out. Quality doesn't factor into the equation, it's purely about cutting costs. There's always someone hungrier waiting in the wings, and management knows it. The only thing that matters is the bottom line looking right on paper.

Seeing PWC and Crowdstrike do another round of layoffs this week should be a good signal for people to have their resumes updated in case of a worst case scenario.

Earnings in Q1 missed, stock still down 27% this year, quickest win for executives is to further reduce payroll and continue offshoring.

Even a simple review of the GP job openings are a clear indication there’s little to no appetite for American labor to handle technology jobs. Most openings seem to be <60k salaries focused on sales.

Some email stating “Due to the macroeconomic conditions and continued transformation of our business strategy force us to make hard decisions.” is coming sooner or later.

I think we all know that's why we're being forced to train all the new hires from India right now, even though we don't need new hires. I hope anyone can see this is the type of ethics this company has if they're considering coming here to work. No reward for loyalty or knowledge, just wanting to hire the cheapest labor possible. And we wonder why we keep losing our best people, they better get out now while they can.

Not sure why you're getting down votes- unless it's read as some leader telling none of y'all are safe.

I agree. Isn't it sad truth for each org? All of us are replaceable from interns to CEO. Board will vote out CEO if stocks don't do well. And ELT example we saw last year.

And if they f up in firing people they shouldn't, well, what better karma? They'll want you back and now you have the upper hand in negotiations. If you're back as contractor, charge handsome rate. I'm sure they'll take you as contractor than one of the consulting companies bc their hour is way more expensive (due to overhead costs).
