Thread regarding Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. layoffs

Are we expecting more cuts?

I'm worried last week was just the beginning.

Any whispers of which departments and/or roles? Su-ks to hear, there was cautious optimism about the pipeline.

More layoffs expected at the end of Q2 in the clinical research sector. Contracts continue to not be awarded. Thermo ruined the culture and reputation of PPD.

RFPs decreased drastically for Thermo since last summer and from my experience we weren't getting many contracts awarded from the RFPs we received. There are PMs with zero studies assigned and PMs over allocated that were laid off 2 weeks ago. There is not pattern to the layoffs other than not enough work coming in to sustain everyone. I expect this to continue throughout the summer.

I've been searching for notices/articles about the most recent layoffs and haven't found anything. It just seems like small numbers here and there to avoid that like others have said. Going by word of mouth alone is so stressful

It's pretty much been the MO since 2022 to gradually lay off people in stages so they don't have to file a WARN notice unless they REALLY need to get people off the books fast.

If 2025 is anything like the past 3 years, expect small-ish cuts every 2-3 months with maybe 1 really big round after Q2 wraps
