Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

There's no point in building new offices

The days of building offices and people actually wanting to come in is probably over.... When most of us can do exactly the same thing from anywhere in the world and not have to commute, deal with traffic, parking, buying lunch, paying $6/gallon for gas, finding and paying for daycare for kids. Need I go on? The world has changed, those companies that change with it will prosper, those that live in the dark ages still will have a tougher time of it....

Perfectly said, @4raq+1jotzyY1.

Nashville is providing millions to encourage new buildings,

Politicians will do that. Think future property taxes once the incentives expire.

Gas is $5 or so on the peninsula now. Those strategic reserves are working!

But don't worry, we only have 30 days of diesel left.

Gas is $6/gallon in the bay area and much of California.

Where is gas $6 gallon? It's about half that near me.

Nashville is providing millions to encourage new buildings, while people are being laid off. I guess the politicians are buying pretty buildings, even if they are empty!

Eventually governments will start to restrict this freedom in order to protect their tam stream. Look for this to be legislated soon, cloaked behind a screen of concern about the internet, but make no mistake, it is tax dollars driving it!
