Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Collaboration is just an excuse

The people I work the most with are in several different locations. We collaborate just fine every day online like we did for the past two+ years. Collaborating at the office would change nothing except for where we sit - we would still have to continue working together online. Using collaboration as an excuse is exactly that, an excuse. They hate having all these buildings that are empty and want to justify their existence by moving us back into them. Plus, I don't think some of the managers are enjoying not being able to bully people as much as they would like online. This is all one big joke.

No one is collaborating with anyone else outside the people they normally work with. Get that through your skull Elcio. Our teams are all over US and We are NOT having meaningless conversations with strangers just because they are bank employees. Let’s get real.

Now they're claiming that we need to be collaborating with the people we're near to in the office whether or not we're working together, but I also just had my workload nearly doubled because of people leaving and not being backfilled. I don't know where the time is going to come from to do that extra work, let alone these new "collaborate with everyone" demands.

Some managers need the ego stroke.

It has to be extra tough for the micromanagers when everyone is remote.
