D3 Systems Tech going away?

It's reported at least in D3, System Tech title isn't back filled when vacated. Typically a Digital Tech fills the spot becoming a Hybrid Tech. Wasn't sure if that's a title worth pursuing? Many in that title seem to have 30+ yrs. If they get surplus, they'll be able to bump ws32 title?

DTs have been installing routers(Sys Tech work) for several years now as part of a combo dispatch when bringing in a new local circuit. So DTs taking work away from other job titles is again the norm, the train keeps rolling. The
new wrinkle is that we now have DTs dispatching on Sys Tech jobs while Sys Techs are on the surplus list.
2 contracts have passed now and neither the T nor the U management teams have put this half@$$ed haphazard merger to rest. If 2 titles are going to be doing the same work, then they probably need to be one title and allow any necessary headcount reductions happen in a fair, contractual manner. T needs to $h!t or get off the pot.

The biggest part of being a (SSIM)Digital tech is being a Wire Tech. T b!tche$ & moans about paying Wire Techs their peanuts but they can’t seem to get enough of paying DTs double to do the same job. Mind boggling that a Wire Tech hasn’t grieved it yet. Not surprised that leadership on either side of the fence has done anything about it.

Since the company gave up any kind of training years ago, you better be a self starter, have similar experience and be willing to learn on your own for a lot of these higher rated titles like DT, ET, 911, Testing and System Tech. There is a big learning curve, like drinking from a fire hose for a while until one feels somewhat competent, a lot wash out. Just because they d-mbed down the test to meet quotas doesn’t mean it’s any easier.
