Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Sapphire 2025 Orlando

Hearing that numbers are down for registrations

Reasons include

  1. Concern for non US citizens journeying to USA given political climate
  2. US Holidays following
  3. Lack of confidence in new NA SAP leadership
  4. Little return on investment from prior events

What is happening ?

Very few SAP events produce juice that is worth the squeeze. Emphasis is placed on events for current customers while pipeline build for things that matter are choked out. I don’t think we’ve had a Field Marketing leader or budget able to help us in years. The Julia White years were just lost time. Now, I don’t know if there is enough knowledge left in the company to get us back to where we need to be.

"Little return on investment from prior events"

This. I went to one smaller SAP event during my entire career and it was a complete waste of time. It felt like a Ted Talk where everyone just agreed with and comforted one another. I couldn't tell whether or not I was at something for work or if I accidentally walked into a Heaven's Gate meeting. A lot of people had this blank stare like they wanted to sleep but couldn't and they wouldn't stop smiling. The only thing I had to show for it was a half of a week of work to get caught up on.

i dont think its cost cuts. managers recently got budget increases for teams. they are discussing ways to spend it. this includes pointless in person workshops that dont accomplish anything but disrupting peoples lives.
