This place will drain you. Managers act like you’re the problem while your coworkers silently resent you. Stick around too long and even you’ll start to believe it. This job isn’t worth the toll it takes... If you manage to find a way out, you’ll leave exhausted and bitter. This job isn’t just bad it’s soul crushing.

Embrace a “mercenary mentality”…as long as the checks clear & benefits (although mediocre) remain, p1$$ all the other baloney.
I think that people who are really stuck are one or a combination of these.
- Those in states, whom T did not say to move yet with a hard deadline on paper and never know when the axe comes.
- Those not willing to move out of T because of people liking their work, accrued PTO and more than high market value pay for their skillset.
- People who are inching retirement and ready to quit when the move deadline comes on paper.
- Those who still have kids in school and spouses having jobs in their states that are not portable.

OP identifies as a victim. I didn't realize anyone was forced to be here.
Ask your manager or director how many people over 50 they have ever hired? Trust me you are stuck. Hopefully you can stick it out. I wasn’t so lucky.
Most of the employees complaining have no other employment options. They know it. AT&T leadership also knows it.
If it is that horrible and bad---RESIGN. There are thousands of companies in the USA, to work at T or not is your choice entirely.
Mo sympathy. This is a life choice,
I am at that "stage of life" where I have been here 25 plus years.
While I do feel very much "targeted" for several reasons, and yes also "stuck"...I realize me feeling "stuck" is all about me and not the company, as they could not make it more abundantly clear that they don't want me sticking around. But I am a stubborn S-B. And while I'd say the pay is good after all that time, the benefits for management are nothing to write home about. Average.
But I am staying until they ask me to move or leave. And no, not because I am not employable anywhere else. I have a degree and professional certifications, and a lot of varied experience. That said, I have friends in their 50's out looking, and follow things on LinkedIn and elsewhere, and it's just tough landing a good job right now. Not impossible but seems to take a very long time in many cases. So I'm sticking around for now.
Everyone needs to take responsibility and realize no one is 'stuck' here.
Everyone is here by choice, people stay for all sorts of their own reasons. There is nothing wrong with making your choice to stay, it is completely your choice.
Just man/woman-up and admit it is you that makes the choice every day to stay and no one is "stuck" here.
If/when you realize it is completely and freely YOUR choice, maybe you will be more satisfied being here, or maybe it will spur you to leave.
Either way, accept reality and admit you are here each day because of the choice you make each day, good luck to you........
Pay and benefits are solid. Not to be a hater, but look elsewhere a bit. You may find a better gig or it could make you feel better about your job at T.
a couple of things that might help
dont worry so much, nobody elese cares.
if the lazy people need help tell them you dont know how to do it and ask the supv.
take care of yourself and dont put off going to the doctor when needed. there is no recognition for perfect attendance anymore.
"Managers act like you’re the problem while your coworkers silently resent you.""
In my experience low performers both are the problem and are resented by coworkers.
We've all worked with the person who looked busy while accomplishing little and asked coworkers how to do every simple task.
It’s not being stuck. It’s having chosen your designation.
RTO and you'll be fine.
