Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Job performance doesn’t matter anymore

I used to work for this company. 19 years - 16 remotely. Never got less than Exceeds on yearly performance review. Didn’t have enough hours in January because of issues with the reports. I wasn’t aware they were even watching the reports then since we were not given a mandate for minimum number of hours. Didn’t matter, I was fired anyway. Don’t worry about job performance anymore, only 5x8 will keep you employed. Anything less will get you fired. Trust me. It’s really a shame what happened to this company.

Exceeds is not the highest rating and I know many people who have had Exceeds or higher most of their career including moi so I believe this person.

Amazing to see the stock price keep climbing as more high performers are cut loose. Best wishes to you, OP, wherever you end up, you will do great!

8 hrs a-s in seat is the measure of your job performance. Know the metrics that matter to leadership and you’ll be fine. Sadly

The stock price is almost double it's WFH value. As far as I'm concerned, you can all move to DFW and keep pushing the stock higher.

“Sounds like a job performance issue to me.”

Sounds like you don’t know a thing about job performance because presence has absolutely not one Fing thing to do performance. You’re referring to policy and policy is a different matter entirely. That’s the reason why our scheming HR leadership team has been careful documenting said policy and terminating people for violations of policy.

It never did. Because you thought you were so valuable Rand works so hard you deserved what you got. It’s all delusion

Stankey and Legg both destroyed Warner, now its turn of AT&T and people who are supporting their unethical behaviors will be vanished soon.

Let’s be honest you viewed yourself as special and so valuable you could do whatever you wanted.

I’m sure you were one the “special skills will allow me to stay remote”.

AT&T reminded you that you aren’t special.

The first step in “job performance “ is being where you are told to be.

You were fired and admitted that you weren’t in the office as the policy dictates.

Sounds like a job performance issue to me.

I got a few appraisals that barely squeaked by because my boss(s) didn't want me to transfer out or get promoted. I'd call their boss or higher explain my story, they would review my records and call my co-workers and then I'd get an exceeds expectation Walks on Water review.

How many warnings you got from your manager and colleagues?

Well, you know 40 hours in office is a minimum.

Legg was saying come and sit in another lap but we will not provide seat and still terminate you. A—h—e. All are acting like joker.

only the good old medieval will make it. just as it should be. the good stuff only cares about nothing at all. No women, no money, no company, no judgement, only the followers of the cool wild west. they will find their way. when the big boy walked into a saloon he knew the game. it is most awesome. he is not from the west was gona get it some good fun. one goodie from the front...the other from the back...the remainder from the side. Oh my my way fun... The saloon is coming back to the old west again. yeah haaa

This is biggest joke of century which AT&T did. I heard this news from many people and every one making fun of HRBP and leadership. They were aware seating capacity is not good, people are in discomfort, no clear instructions on hours expectations. BI report is wrong specially till January. Still terminated them for COBC.They should have first made sure there are enough seating capacity.

I also got exceeds ratings consecutively for nearly every year of my 24+ career. The only exceptions were years I transitioned or was re-org’ed which is common. If you’re not delivering consistently, that’s the only explanation for a mid-tier rating. Own it and give the guy his props.

It was mentioned in several news articles in December. It was also in a very long explicit email if you are in Legg's org from him in December. And then there was the whole town hall blow up in January when Stankey was pi---d there were people still doing 3 hours a day.

Sue them for wrongful termination. Give me your exact circumstances your level, SVP, what you were advised on hours in office, what state, and I’ll give you your lawsuit.

Some interesting responses to my post, but the funny thing is none of them debated my statement about how job performance doesn’t matter anymore. Thanks for proving my point. Must be HR reps responding to these posts.

They made it pretty clear in December that starting in January it was 5 days a week and a full 8 hours

It was never clear, still is not in any official communication.
