Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Watching HPE drive away its best talent firsthand

I was the person everyone came to for answers. The one who fixed problems before most people even knew they existed. And you know what? I walked away.

It wasn’t an easy decision, but watching them bring in outsiders at higher levels while the rest of us fought for scraps made it clear that loyalty means nothing here. Why stick around to train people making more than you when your own growth gets ignored?

So I left. And they’re still struggling to replace me. Funny how that works.

To anyone else feeling stuck: your skills have value. Sometimes the best way to prove it is to take them somewhere that’ll actually appreciate them.

I agree with you- being used and plagiarized work given to H1B I experienced and then I get laid off... enough!! That was the last time I worked for any company, I retired I was old enough.

I don’t think @eg’s comment was negative towards @OP. I think they’re just pointing out the irony that the company doesn’t care who leaves because everyone is expendable.

The truth is that most of the products that HPE is creating are low margin commodity hardware items which is why so many jobs were offshored to Asia. Your experience and technical skills are worth more at other companies such as AMD, Nvidia, Boeing, etc. I wouldn’t spend more than 4-5 years at HPE. When I left HPE I really worked on my technical skills and it paid off. Don’t give up.

The package is garbage. You are better off taking the 6 months of unemployment claims and relaxing.

@OP Nice post. I have the same dilemma. Your words are helpful.

@CQ Your words are why I haven’t done it just yet. Is leaving on your own terms better than getting the package?

Yeah, 30 seconds after you were out the door, the business moved on. Not saying you were or were not valuable, but more than likely there were happy as that was another US job out the door for free with no severance, that they are now moving overseas. The ‘job done’ right, or ‘satisfied customer’ is of no concern. It’s simply cutting costs.

But it does explain why (finally) Nero is possibly under threat.

The reality is that you were replaced and the business never missed a beat, But think what you will.
