Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO now regular hours

I'm about done with this place! On our team staff call this week our manager said the general expectation is to work regular hours of 9 to 5. We can come in early but must work until at least 5 every day. I asked about reports she asks for that are due by 8 am every day and she said that 9 to 5 is the minimum but as salary employees we may need to work beyond that. They want to have it both ways and I'm over it!

To the people who are justifying all these beatings , if you will not ask any questions they will keep tightening the sc--ws and you will eventually break at one point , at that very moment you will realise , you should have spoken earlier.

“I'm all for this. These early worms are why there aren't desks for us normal office hours people.”

Regardless of what time you come into the office, if there are NOT available seats during normal business hours that is a LEADERSHIP/C-Suite PROBLEM!

Period

O.P. says: "I'm about done with this place!"

Well then, if you are done with it, BE done with it and move on.
There are almost no (ZERO) jobs you will find that will not have scheduled hours you are supposed to work. It is true that many jobs are salaried but almost all of them will have a schedule for you, or at least hours you must be at work. It's the way of the REAL world.

Wake up to reality, grow up, quit doing the bu hu all day, and good luck in your next job.

It’s clear they are forcing people to quit now. The goal post keeps moving. Next it will monitoring your breaks and lunches. Just wait.

I promise you it’s greener grass elsewhere.

There are people coming in at 5 who drop off their stuff, log in, then leave to go to the gym and bring their kids to school and come back at 9 or 10. They leave at 1 or 2 and look like they had more than 8 hours.

There are people literally coming in at 4 am and leaving at noon and it counts as 8 hours. > > > That is the abuse thay are trying to stop.

How is it abusing the system to work an 8 hour day?

For years ( well before COVID) people who had to do early reports like this would often wfh at like 7am. Finish the report then head to the office and get in at like 10. Everyone just knew that’s what was going on and no one cared. Execs need to learn they can’t have things both ways.

There is an employee like this in my department. Comes in at 5, leaves at and maybe completes 2 hours of actual work.

We got told basically that but more vague. We were told leaving early at 3 or 4 everyday will get flagged. When asked if that meant we needed to work until 5 he said that isn't what he said just that we can't abuse the system by coming in at 7 and leaving at 3 every day. But 5 is definitely being implied.

So some say 8:30-5:30, and some are saying 9-5? What gives?

I will be pi---d if my CA teammates don't start coming in until 9. That's noon Eastern! And they won't be able to reach us if they take an hour lunch at 1 (Pacific) and expect to talk to anyone in Atlanta or New Jersey after. We'll be gone!

I don’t like being held accountable for working full time hours.

Make the cuts and get it over with!

This “death by a thousand cuts” is ridiculous!

If you are NOT an “hourly/non-exempt manager”, what does it matter the specific office hours you work as long as the work gets done!

Tell her to send a written response on that and then tell her she will get her reports after 9am.
Besides, what do you care? You want out.

This place has turned into an absolute clown show. Leaders at the top need to just make the massive cuts. Cowards.

So to do the report you need to be in the office by 7 but still work until 5? That is 50 hours a week minimum. Get that expectation in writing and ask your HR business partner! That can't be right
