We got an email this week saying 8 hours every day minimum.
Exempt employees are paid by the job, not hours. That's the law. Otherwise they are subject to paying overtime.
After reading some of these whiny posts, I agree with the poster that said some aren’t fit to work here. Quit complaining and get on with it. If you don’t like it, quit. No one is making you stay. What a waste of time complaining on this site. Get a life!
It’s fine for now- cause they are just investigating 5hrs and under. I would do 7 to play it safe

If you do 6 hours, the report marks you for 8. It pads the start and end times. That's why your supervisor is telling you 6 is fine.

That counts as… your boss is an id--t and doesn’t have the faintest idea yet, that he has zero power, and that when you don’t comply with 8 hours, the leaders above him will send him a notice that you’ve been axed.
Approval? What does that mean? My boss said if we are unable to comply with 8 hr in the office on any given day, send him an email. Had a flat tire last week, WFH from 8am to about 11:30, got my car fixed and got to the office at 12:30. Sent the boss an email explaining why I was not in the office 8 hours that day. Does that count as “approval”?

We got an email this week saying 8 hours every day minimum. Not even an average of 8 or more per day. 8 or more every day unless we get written approval. Any days less than 8 without approval is subject to discipline. It has gotten suddenly very strict and now it is in writing in email!

So f-king what. Nobody is redefining what I do on a daily basis because of some je-k-off whim or half-assed agenda, executed by a punk mouth dip $hit. I’ll get my severance, unemployment, and pension and they’ll get double middles finger as I walk out the door. I’ll return the laptop with a keyboard full of pi$$. That’s how it is. Never in my life have I ever allowed a f-king 2-bit job to take away an ounce of who I am, casting rules over me like some 17th century king. Open your eyes. Live reality, Awaken and walk with strength in your step. You’re allowing your mental health to be leached by losers.
Do your 8 and bounce. Don’t trust that 6 hr min number. If nothing is going on and I don’t have anything to do, I surf the web, watch training videos or play with my phone till I hit my 8. Some days are boring, some days we are slammed. Track your own hours. Document everything, send yourself a weekly backup. I give them 8 on the dot or a bit more some days depending on meetings or whatnot, still my presence report is under reporting a bit. I track my time to the minute.
You are not an hourly employee. You get paid a salary to do a job, not punch a clock. If you can finish your work in 6 hours one day but work 10 hours another day it doesn’t matter, you are doing your job. They are trying to condition you as an hourly employee mentality without having to pay you overtime. This is illegal and they need to be held accountable.

It’s like this. I don’t give a f-k about what you think, or what anyone else thinks. Take my job, leave my job, I don’t give a f-k. I come in when I get there. Sometimes it’s 7:45, sometime’s it’s 8:30. It depends on traffic or when my first meeting is. I leave whenever the f-k my day ends. If I work all day and get out at 5: 30, that su-ks but oh well. If it’s a Wednesday and there’s a giant hole in my calendar and nothing in the afternoon, and my $hit is done or can wait until tomorrow? Well the f-k you and f-k everyone else, I pack up and get the f-k on the road. If Jeremy Legg or anyone else has a problem with that then they can f-k off, grow some ba--s, and come talk to my face about it. For fu-s sake people, are you going to let some pu$$y candy a$$ losers run your entire life? Save up, pay off your bills, and live your f-king life. F-k those people. If you wouldn’t be intimidated by these f-kers in a bar, then act like a man at work.

That's the standard everywhere in America since the FSLA passed in 1938. If you honestly think that 6 hrs. a day is good enough, don't be surprised when they show you the door.
Not everyone is scrambling for a loophole, some of us are required to work nights and weekends above our time in the office. I guess it is time for everyone in the company to become 24X7. Please join us.

6 hours is not considered a full day. Do not just do 6 hours.

Our Director was freaking out over someone on the team with under 7 so now we are all 8 hrs a day. Another person from another Organization was told 8 last year- he was with Mobility side of the company.

We have been told that they are looking for "trends" now...i.e. if you are continually at 6 every Friday, even though you have may your 40 for the week, they are telling us that it's going to start becoming a problem. Just the messenger here.
It’s an Average over a week of 40 hours. For example you could do Monday 8.5 Tuesday 6 Wednesday 8.5 Thursday 8 Friday 7.5…. This would give 38.5 hours for average of 7.7 hours. Our SVP repeatedly stated that he wanted us ‘’close to 8’’
They keep stating 5x8 but really people have lives. We are going to have doctors appointments, sick kids, sports, and just lives.
Heard the same a while back. First was less than 3, then 6, and eventually 8. I have also been directly asked about 6.
