Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Considering

Currently interviewing for software engineering position. Trying to get a feel for company culture and what can be expected for yearly increases and how are reviews conducted? Also, what is the cycle for layoffs? Are they constant or do they take place at certain times of the year?

If you are desperate and I mean desperate I would join. However continue to find another job and leave as soon as you find something. Fiserv will su-k the life out of you.

Well now. That was a good read. Those comments are exactly right. It is now April 11th and our cost of living raise whatever it may be 1% - 2% was due on April 1st. I had to ask and they said that it would be mid May. No notification... no consideration that how we worked for over a year like a dog to get maybe 2% and you're going to hang on to it for a month and a half. That's some BS.

There are no positives… all negatives. You can relocate from the Midwest and they will sp-t you out in short time leaving you wondering what have I done. Don’t move for Fiserv. Highly toxic with absolutely no trust, public shaming, micromanagement

If you have other options, consider those first. You get a paycheck and some benefits but tolerating all actual work stuff is stressful and it is a lead by bullying culture.

@d1+1jrgxkjmy there are no positives to working for Fiserv. Also, every area they'd require you to move to is going to have a higher cost of living than the Midwest, especially if they want you in Jersey. So the below market average salary they offer isn't going to go nearly as far. Add that to the forced in office hours, constant monitoring, constant layoff anxiety, expensive on-site food options, parking shuttle nightmares, loud open workspaces, incompetent internal support, slow/crashing systems (due to all the sh-t spyware they run on us), and don't get me started on the bathrooms or how the keurigs are never cleaned... my advice? RUN.

Like everyone is saying - coming from BH. You’ll eventually be replaced by an Indian (yes I have SEEN it happen), you are monitored 24/7 with swipes and sapience, parking is in a different lot if you don’t get here by EIGHT, and micromanagement is rampant. Not a really innovative company either and there is resistance to new ideas.

Thank you for the responses. Yes, I have read reviews from Glassdoor, here and other sites but some were dated. I want to decide if I should proceed and if so, with eyes wide open. From what I have been able to ascertain, the company seems to not trust their employees, morale is low and sound management questionable. Trying to sort between the positives and the negatives as it would require a move from the mid-west.

Reviews and raises are a BS process. Be happy with 1%, be thrilled with 2%. Prepare to be monitored every which way. Badge swipes, sapience, clarity, jira. Be prepared to be replaced by an Indian. Depending on location, be prepared for over crowding, parking issues, and even lines at rest rooms. In short, the culture is toxic.

If you haven't bothered to read any posts here or on Glass Door and are asking this question, proceed. The people who post on these forums (for the most part but I can't guarantee 100%) are the people who have given this company a huge part of ourselves to the success in any way we can and mostly because we respect and value our coworkers who give the same.

Let's say you just restarted you computer, and you right mouse click on an icon on your desktop because you want to view the file properties .

How many seconds do you think you should have to wait for the properties window to appear?

Forty seconds if things are running smoothly. Usually it will take over a minute to perform this basic task. Forgetting what you are trying to as you are waiting for your computer to respond is a regular occurrence. The whole organization is like this. Stuff you don't even think about as a thing will become impossible. Do you want a paper plate in the breakroom? Better bring it from home. The company is saving money by not resupplying those.

Do you want to copy a file from one folder on your desktop to another folder on your desktop? Surprise! You don't have user permissions for that task. It is incredibly frustrating.

I'm watching my team slowly get replaced by Indians. 2% raise every year, spaghetti codebase, sapience monitoring software on our laptops, 8-9 hours between badge swipes being tracked and on-call on top of that. This place is a sh1t hole.

as far as reviews go it matters not what you do, how much work you do, how good you are, how many hours you work, how many goals you exceed etc. you’ll just get a meets expectations and be told to be happy with it. Only 1% can get an exceeds and zero get a far exceeds.
i’ve had years where i smashed every goal with measurable metrics and still got a meets expectations.

With your end of your review meeting - it’s not a review. It’s for them to say well done and here’s a meets expectations. they don’t take into account any positive arguments you can bring to the table in your favor.
They decide what you’re getting (ie meets expectations) BEFORE they even meet with you to discuss how you did.

you’ll get a 2% raise if your lucky and be told you were one of the fortunate few and you should be grateful for that.

They’ve been doing this for the last 4 years.

It’s truly awful and demotivates anyone from trying to go above and beyond.

Come on. Read the threads here or anywhere on Indeed or glassdoor. If you still want to work here you’re nuts.

layoffs 2x a year - one right around Thanksgiving, then the other is usually in Feb - March timeline.

increases are abysmal. no more than 2%, even if you're a top performer.

reviews are conducted via workday, you give your self assessment and then your manager adjusts your rating according to what they've been told to rate their subordinates.

don't do it. stay away.
