By development I mean anything that increases YOUR market value - certificates, skills, capabilities, learning. You should not spend more than 2-3 years in a role here. Have a plan - get in, develop and get out. Your next role will give you a big bump - you are not going to get that with an internal move. If you stick around you'll be viewed as a chump - and get low yearly bumps and will be at risk of getting let go. Do your job while your here - but don't bust ur A$$. Put all your extra effort into your own development.
