Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Don't do the extra work!

For the love of everything sacred to you, don't pick up the work of your laid-off teammate/s. Just don't do it. Find a way to make yourself unavailable and always busy with your own work. If you do it, you'll end up saddled with more work for no pay and give them an excuse to say "see, it can be done with fewer people." For a change, let them see what happens when they lay off much-needed people and others are not willing to add at least ten hours to their workweek to compensate.

Everyone in the company who doesn't have direct reports should unionize. White collar unions baby. That's how Swedish corporations are run (look it up). Hans can't object.

This is how I intend to get promoted. If I do double the work, I'm certain to get noticed and promoted.
