4/2 meeting Mandatory or Not

I know managers have made the 4/2 meeting sound mandatory. I even got an email from MM VP of consumer sales, insisting we attend..
The 2025 Retail Attendance policy states on page 9 headed Retail Meetings: Attendance Policy

Meetings (downloads, huddles, All Hands Meetings, state of the team, etc) should be integrated into your regular scheduled shift.
Employees who are not scheduled to work (e.g., day off or PTO), OR are working a shift that DOES NOT directly follow the meeting time (e.g., mid shift or closing shift) SHOULD NOT be scheduled to attend a meeting and ARE NOT required to attend.
It goes on to state that leaders should reinforce that attendance is voluntary. In these circumstances leaders are to brief individuals on the missed content once their scheduled shift begins. Compensation must be paid at a minimum of 2hours of work time per compensation guidelines if you decide to attend ...

I can’t believe this is what they made such a big deal about. Basically we are relying on marketing who has failed us for years not driving new customers into the stores. All this is going to do is get customers to upgrade on welcome that we don’t want to do cause it just gets us in trouble

To the person Who Said it is illegal to require you to come to a meeting, you are incorrect. As long as they have given you 72 hours notice and will pay you a minimum of 2/4 hours ( depending on your state) they can require you to attend. If it is on your schedule you are to attend. I’m not versed in the all the state laws on meetings but at a federal level there is no law prohibiting a required meeting.

Unless you don’t want work for Verizon, attend the meeting. Will they fire you for not attending? Probably not. Will your GM and DM discuss your non attendance and if they should invest additional resources in you as an employee, probably. Things could get challenging when you don’t drink the coolaid

All plans are sold at 4 line pricing and include 2 perks when you buy 3 or more lines! NDA can't touch me

I don’t think most people care about having to come in. Just want to know what it is about. Apparently those in the know had to sign a NDA. They’re saying this is game changing and the biggest announcement in everyone’s Verizon career. What possibly is out there that can be that much of a game changer? We already have free $1000 phones on our lowest plans with extra discounts on the plans and we’re buying out contracts.

If I were you I’d quit. Can’t believe a company would ask you to attend a meeting. Wow. Call your lawyer. I’d demand pain and suffering with back pay.
