It is all to easy to think of this in abstract terms, but Oracle is not hurting. They are getting what they want. Oracle is in control.
This comes down to people. Our friends and colleagues who must now scramble to find health coverage, figure out how to pay the mortgage, and tell the kids not to expect much at Christmas.

People think the grass is greener outside;
Think again
For tops elite firms such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, top consulting firms such as BCG, Accenture, McKinsey etc.. their motto is “Move up or move out”
Employees are shown the door if they don’t get promoted in a couple of years.
It shows how competitive it is out there
“One may say: Oracle cannot guarantee a lifetime job to its employees while competing on the marketplace and reporting financial results to investors. “
One may say, Oracle can not guarantee that employees will stay! Time to leave.

If the employees are good enough, they should be able to compete and find a job somewhere else: this is the market of free enterprise.
Grass is greener and less stressful on the other side. Once you get throigh the initial shock you feel free. Easier said than done, many jobs still out there.
