Does anyone know if we can ask for more? Do we have the right to say this isn’t enough severance? I would like to suck more more from them as they have done to me for years?

Of course you can ask for more. They won't be expecting that question, so they may need time to refer back to their manager. With the money Verizon is saving with the rif's, they will most likely be flexible. Don't be surprised if they want you to sign an NDA. They definitely won't do this for all rif'd people, but will likely do this for a few.
You can always ask, and I have viewed 2 cases where they have relented:
One showed that they were let go with the best rating in her organization. She was rehired with aide of an attorney.
The second claimed minority discrimination, they rehired her and then worked on documenting and laid her off 12 months later.
I believe that you are going to be likely disappointed unless you have a secondary and overwhelming case.
I can say whatever you want but you have no standing.
Anything is possible. You would probably need to lawyer up and have some plausible case - e.g age discrimination. In the meantime you have legal costs and no severence benefits. You are also spending time and brain cycles on your case. Most of the time best thing to do is start looking for your next job.
Have your wife ask Verizon for more severance!
There was some public document about Verizon executive severance benefits where directors START at 39 weeks and go UP from there.
I've heard of a few individuals who negotiated a better deal. They had to sign an NDA.
There's no harm in trying. I mean what can they do, fire you?
