I was laid off over a year ago. This week I was contacted to return. Their offer was much better than what I had before. I told them to kiss their behinds (politely, of course, not burning any bridges for no reason). But it felt so, so good. You want to get rid of the most experienced folks and think things will run as smoothly as before? Yeah, right. How did that work out for you?

The pro move would be to take the offer, get a few weeks pay while on boarding and then just coast.

svps are realizing they need more people to do core work. Strategy was cut until it
breaks then refill where revenue justifies it even if it costs more. They probably should have assessed future demand and resource needs a whole lot better

of course they are also ‘asking’ (making horrible demands) for people to work overtime and weekends to cover for where they’ve cut people - basically free labor.

It’s horrendous as this approach is just a labor arbitrage to boost earnings for the Q at the expense of the front line experienced people who shouldn’t have been laid off in the first place.

i’ve even heard them say ‘I don’t care what it costs to get someone in to do projects xyz’ how bad is that. Should have thought about that before you fired everyone

If anyone gets contacted to come back make sure you charge the appropriate rates. ie VERY EXPENSIVE

they are also using 3rd parties to fill in. Imagine those labor costs!!

Even if you did go back, it would be a different company. You wouldn't be as effective because all of the knowledgeable employees would be gone.
