Average Hours methodology change?

It looks like roughly mid-March the methodology changed for estimating departure time. Anyone have any solid info on what changed?

“I have to plug into the LAN.”
Only LAN connections should be used when working in the office.

You are an id--t, not all desks have LAN connections and if you are in a conference room you might have to use WiFI, which in our office shows you in the office. Why do we have such d-mb people at this company.

Class action lawsuit needs to happen.

You can’t rely on badge swipes - if I go out to lunch and swipe to get back in, looks like I only worked a half day. I don’t have to swipe to leave. Some people bypass the elevator bank at HQ offices and take the stairs due to long waits.

LAN, WiFi, and VPN have all been unreliable recently.

So let’s just go back to the “good ol’ boy good ol’ days,” and assign everyone their own desk, bring back the old PBX phones and desktop PC’s. We’ll all go back to smoking cigarettes at our desk, and the ladies can wear short skirts and go back to filing papers and getting lunch orders for the menfolk. I mean, h3ll - that’s what it seems they are working toward.

They are pushing AI so hard, yet really want to cling to the past.

I get asked to explain the discrepancies and inconsistencies every week. I stopped trying, it’s a moving target and the read me notes do not explain the logic used accurately.

My refrain is now, I can’t explain it AVP, please contact the software engineer.

“Coffee badgers ruined it all.”

BS! The greedy, inept Machiavellians at HQ “ruin” everything.

Our VP seems to be spending most of their time concerned with the Average Hours report. This whole thing is lunacy, and while we’re getting conditioned to it, when you explain it to others outside the company they are incredulous.

"Presence report doesn’t capture time on wifi where I am. I have to plug into the LAN."

Well then, you have a ready made excuse.

Reading this is so sad. Aren't we all supposed to be "managers"? Responsible people who can do their job, no matter how many or little hours it takes? The management philosophy and tactics of this company is downright sick.

"Be at the location you should be at the right time and for the right duration and there is no need to worry."

Incorrect . . . the report is not reporting correctly and has grossly under-reported my actual hours connected to the corporate WiFi/LAN several times. My boss contacted me after being contacted by HR about it. I provided him with the time-sheet I keep on my own, as well as several emails that showed I was working during the time my time-sheet said I was.

If only that were true. The reports are busted.

This is completely bullsh-t.

I have noticed for me it has happened twice now, after I come from my lunch break, I badge in at Atlanta, and that time counts as out time.

Since my boss is in Atlanta I am not in trouble as I have physical proof.

Yes. It randomly continues to chop hours from employees who are at work as well as claim they weren’t at work when actually the employee was. The rounding of hours doesn’t make any sense either. Its goal is to enrage employees while having bosses try and coach nonsense unethical reporting.
Kind of conflicting with the “our most valuable asset is our employee “ ethos.
