Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Why are people suggesting another reorg?

We haven’t even settled from the last one, let alone seen any improvements. If you don’t know what you want to achieve with a reorg beyond putting on a show for shareholders and cutting people just to hit numbers, a reorg will never lead to better efficiency, productivity, or, god forbid, a return to glory.

Because some teams do not have an operating model and are paralyzed by red tape even one year later

Why? Because headcount is still too high to support what will be slower growth in the future. Nike is staffed for annual high single-digit growth. When it will likely see low single-digit growth. If it sees any growth at all.

I think further reductions, regrettable as they are, at this point are baked into the game.

Because it’s been a year and the op model of multiple functions still don’t make sense or will make sense. From solid lines to dotted lines, and then the actual work, Bain really didn’t understand Nike and just made stuff up
