People have been talking about these layoffs for a while, long enough for everybody to be aware they were coming. I truly hope everybody took it seriously and nobody is unprepared for this situation. I don't want to sound callous, but if you have been laid off today and you don't have a plan in place, you have nobody to blame but yourself.

'We knew these layoffs were coming'
People should 'always' be prepared to get laid off - any group can let people go for whatever reason - doesn't matter how good or how valuable you are to the company, you are just a number. And they just pay you a salary and decent benefits. Don't get too comfortable staying at one place too long and think the company is 'looking out for you'.
Stop whining and acquire some skills besides complaining that can be used at other companies.
Big mistake Verizon. You let some really good employees go today along with the ringers.
OP, you didn’t need the last sentence. I get the point, no reason to be caught flat footed….. This RIF was the worst kept secret, my resume was updated 2 weeks ago.
@1ewq+1jppMUkx suddenly unemplyed is always scarier. Have a heart
I assume that the commenters here aren’t VZ employees left behind for the aftermath. I am envious of your freedom and I have faith that anyone employed will be okay. It’s scary but consider yourselves the lucky ones. It’s scarier to remain on.
One word for the OP - KARMA
The person that posted this garbage is almost certainly one of fools with at the very top earning huge dollars for making id--tic decisions. You belong on the firing line. Literally!
@OP+1jppMUkx Whoever you are, or whatever you are, YOU are an a**ho-e! How rude to tell people they should have been "prepared". How about front line sales people that were 100% of quota, should they have been "prepared"? Go crawl under your Verizon cubicle and gloat about not getting RIF'ed and see what this company will be like after the good people are gone. You Jerk
You do sound callous, actually. And smug. And condescending. It costs nothing to be gracious and kind towards this who’ve just lost their jobs - whether they anticipated it or not. I’m not sure what the point of wagging your finger at them is. I hope you have a blessed day and find some compassion towards those who aren’t.
I prepared for it. Have 1 year Salary saved. Literally no debt. I went to bed with a smile hoping for a RIF meeting. Guess what? Wasn’t laid off. Now its back to literally not giving a single fu-k. I’m gonna try my best to make sure I am responsible for losing customers.
OP is a heartless semi-human. It's like warning someone that you have a 15% chance of dying so be prepared. And then if you do die, well you should have prepared so don't cry about it. How exactly do you prepare that you might be laid off besides maybe waiting on a big ticket item?
Prepare? What a d-mb post.
What get another job and then when you don't get laid off you tell the other company no thanks?
This looks like the gracious email HR will be sending to the rifs
If the company gave a damn about signal strength, employees, customers, or customer service instead of only being worried about being woke, everyone would still have their jobs.
Just curious how much of a pay cut or stock options or bonus cut is Hanz and his executive team cutting back on.
There was no point in you post other than to make people feel bad if they were blindsided by a layoff. Kicking folks when they are down is a real jerk move
