Take it with a grain of salt, but my HR contact that I have lunch with regularly said if you are above 7hrs in office they won’t fire you. They said the 9hr is a bluff but he said def don’t be u under 7. I’m around 7.5 so he said no to worry and been fine for months. Just wanted to relay this bc I feel bad for folks doing 9.

Anyone grade 11 and up, regardless of manager or individual contributor, is mandated 9 hours daily not 8. I ought to demand a demotion, a $5k annual bonus in mostly stock isn't worth as much as 10% less in-office time.
Only Managers and above are required to work 9hrs. Everyone else has to do 8

As others have alluded to, OP is not wrong, but theure not right either. It depends which group you're in. And which manager you report to.
If you're in a group that makes good coin for the company, and your VP or SVP are known to bend the knee to frank's whims, on demand, then the OP advise is probably correct. If you're in a group that costs more than it brings in or your VP/SVP stand up to demands enough to be noticed, the OP advise wile likely land you on a short list.
As with any advise you get in this company, especially from a largely anonymous site like this one: caveat emptor i.e. buyer beware

It isn’t like anything is an automatic firing. It’s just when they are told to cut folks, you are going to be top of the list.
You must work 9 hours and more or you will be flogged in the lobby on Saturday morning. All staff are required to attend prior to beginning the free fiserv work day in this sweatshop.
I am working 7+ hrs most of the time but was clear with my manager about dependencies back home. May be it all depends on which team you are in.
It all depends on the team and the manager. Each one has different standard.
I log about 6 hours in sapen for keying time and no one has said a word.
To OP, nope not true, anyone can be a target. No matter how and where you work and what you do. Been witnessing this for a while now.

Please don't follow these rules as it will just result in being on a list. We don't want to be on a list!
If you are required to be in 9 hours a day, then average 9 hours a day. 8.5 hours or less and you are on the list.
For Sapience, they want us to show 8 hours working time, which is impossible if you have collaborative discussions that is the point of being in an office together. 7.5 hours and you are a list.
Unlimited R&R does not mean unlimited. Over 32 days and you are on a list. Your team will not be able to hire anyone if the r&r time is high. Not that we are hiring anyone at this time.
My boss says to put in unlimited R&R for days we want to work from home. She spends more time trying to get creative in keeping us from quitting than anything else. You gutted my entire team and I’m going the work of at a minimum, 3 colleagues. Read the room.
Thanks for this..I've been dont to just keep your life simple: 9 hours work, period. They'll have a harder time touching you then. That is-- if you want to give up the hours of labor. To hit the 45 hours, you have to be 5 days, in office daily.
