I think many of us have questioned why we still spend so much to maintain our little skunk works facilities. I spent a significant chunk of my career in labs. It used to be a place for innovation. Now it's a place for us to showcase the amazing work our vendors are doing! No surprise though. I don't think some of these guys could pass a dr-g test let alone a math test.

"shall write the code with GPT chat"
This is a pipe dream of executive level "orchestrators" who don't write code themselves. Most executive level "leadership" doesn't realize that good coding is DESIGNED and written. ChatGTP can write toy scripts but doesn't do design. With an object oriented language and a complex system to be implemented it is all about designing the right classes and figuring out how they interact. Have any of you seen chatGPT design and document a class library or use boolean algebra to handle large collections of things as Python allows? Or use Pandas effectively to deal with data tables? I didn't think so. But clueless executives don't even know that's a thing. All they know is that chatGPT is even cheaper that H1b labor and that excites them.
Labs is a joke. They take forever to test and approve anything. The new NEs get MD'd shortly after approval or they're running on software several releases old.
Any new innovations or inventions in the last five years? Ten years?
What have you done for us lately? Any refinements on the transistor invention? Anything?

labs are now the innovation center in bangalore with fiber backbone for very fast communication and speedy. shall write the code with GPT chat and testing. Global innovation now everywhere and not in american states.
You might believe that but I think you're getting bell labs and att labs confused.
Then why all the propeller heads in NJ? Almost sounds like a waste of cash!
