Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

It's always the wrong ones who are forced to leave

It's amazing how the strategy & execution are failing, but the people (i.e. the failures) who lead the company are the ones that get to stay and keep failing.

Meanwhile, the individual contributors (ICs) get axed... and probably the same ICs who told the failures (i.e. "leaders") that they should take a different path.

No worries... those "leaders" will use the former employees' ideas to stick around sucking on the big corporate teet.

Sorry but this is not the case always. We had a few IC's that were the worst! They needed to go and they were just let go. Yes, some mangers and directors and CEO's need to go too... but there are in fact bad employees just collecting a paycheck and not doing their job.

It is so true. The culture has changed. Decisions should only be made at the top, because if you aren’t a director, you aren't paid to think.
*Don’t question what you’re told to do, even when it’s ludicrous, has direct customer impact, or is an impossible ask.
*Don't voice concerns or point out potential issues unless you already have a solution - and even then you may be publicly bullied.
*Information is shared on a need to know basis.
We all tsk tsk when we see outsourced agents acting like mindless robots, unable to employ common sense when something is clearly wrong. Yet, VZ is encouraging the same mindset with employees.
*We’ve become mere lemmings who will mindlessly follow the leader right off the cliff.
