Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

For Whom The Bell Tolls 3/20/25

It’s been rumored that March 20th is the big layoff. It’s what this site was made for. We’ve had waves but this will be the Tsunami. I have it on good authority that the number of employees being given “Stink-Slips” will be a jaw dropper and drool fest. What makes this rumor extra juicy is the number of Associate Directors, Directors and VP’s that will be blindsided. AVP’s have been stepping up their engagement over the last 6 months for a reason as the number of VP’s are ready to retire.

Many projects will be switched over to new teams and program managers that have been job shadowing for months. The new kids on the block with little experience are about to step into the limelight. March 20th is the cumulation of everything T has been working towards. They have been consolidating people and information like crazy and it’s almost showtime.

Take a deep breath as you walk into work that day. It will be shocking for some, expected by others, and a new beginning for the new AT&T.

The person who said their boss said this has no weight you were lied to or your boss doesn't know. There is a major surplus coming. The JVB move is one step in Stankey retiring now that he is head of the board for T.

This signals the end of 5x8 RTO and a return to 3x8

I wonder of JVB being put under Arnoldi is the first step of reorgs to get rid of the VPs? And Veazy just retired so I wonder if they will backfill that position or reorg the group.

“The only ones getting laid off on 3/20 are the ones that did not RTO”

Would they not be terminated “for cause” (RTO non-compliance)?

"Proud AT&T employee with Union protection.
It will be just another day at work for me."

This is the same twot-waffle that complains about non bargained for bonuses, take it to the bank.

Heard the same. It’s coming and they’re targeting the olds and non RTO compliant, but mainly us olds.

Well if 3/20 is about getting rid of the remaining VP’s that won’t move then it’s gonna be a small number. Less than 20?

I know a union technician who is 74 years old. He’s never been liked by management his entire career. Now he’s asked for VSP and they won’t give it to him. I don’t think they’re too serious about reducing headcount. He’s been dead weight for 50 years and they won’t pay up. They apparently can’t afford to lay off many at once. Might sink into their billions in profits.

Many of us are very excited to be laid off. We're ready, willing and able to leave with plans however we've been holding out doing the minimal time and effort thing just waiting for the inevitable pay to leave notification. Good luck to all the good people I've worked with over the many years.
