Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I just want to do my job

I miss working without having to filter through endless conversations in the background just to stay focused and avoid mistakes. I miss not being bombarded with unrelated questions all the fu--ing time. I miss not having to worry if everything is going to be right where I left it the next day. RTO is a complete mess.

Maybe you can move up from wire tech.

VERY Interesting my Post was deleted!!!!!! WHY?? Did I disclose info they did not approve? We are working 24 x 7 and have to be in office 8x 5???????? I only mentioned my job is 24 x 7 and Weekends but we keep Customers First and we are our clients advocates we should have work from home options as we did last 25 years!!!! Also, NOW the client pays for US/MOW Service Managers who are around the clock 24 x 7 . However, it is contracted service the client pays for now and ATT gets the revenue BUT we have been in office close to 2 years now.... I think If my client understood the money, they pay for me and that I have to go 2 hours a day to office for 8 hours I doubt they will renew contract? I can work direct for them much cheaper Please rethink RTO

"Yes, it was loud at my house too. My kids are 2&3. They are at the age they are loud and needy. It is much quieter at the office in comparison."

GREAT play. I laughed out loud. Totally unexpected and quite entertaining. Clever.

“It was too noisy at home”

That’s funny. It was dead silent for me while kids were at SCHOOL. The office is 100x louder. Sounds like a call center.

RTO is not a complete mess. I rather like it. It was too noisy at home with my small children running and screaming.

“ What are our goals this year again other than cutting costs?”

Other than a slew of techie babble mixed with pie in the sky, plastic platitudes…it’s what you said.

My job is to come into the office 5 days a week for 8 hours per day. Anything I do during that time is simply to placate someone else or to keep myself from being bored. Sad it’s come to that, but that’s all the bosses care about. Very few people care anymore.

What are our goals this year again other than cutting costs?

"You really just want to go back to part time hours."

Most of us were working more hours at home. But I know that doesn't fit the narrative you've constructed in your head.

I totally agree. The energy vampires at the office stay hungry. People act like it’s normal but it’s really a type of abuse.

Imagine a world in which you didn’t have to fear your own layoff a week after you complete your project that you delivered on time and with quality. We are all working on our “one last thing”

RTO will become more painful as workloads increase due to RTO related attrition.

RTO is extremely difficult when your job is 24 x 7 including weekends. We serve customers first and strive to be Best in Class. I just wish they would re-think this 5x a week for certain job titles.

The problems will only get worse and tasks harder to complete as workloads double with some really good employees leaving the company due to the pain RTO causes

Too bad. Focus your energies on things you can control.
