North building closure (Lincoln office)

Everyone received a mass communication that the north building would be closed on March 17th from 5am-12pm. A little sus… are they planning to RIF people ? Why would they do that? There’s no other details provided.

They are not planning on RIF-ing people. But that is what is going to happen. Everyone will miss the mandatory core hours in office, so everyone will be let go. Senior management won't even question why.

Lincoln isn't a center of excellence, getting the place spiffed up to sell.

They're setting up that morning for a BIG PARTY that day for lunch, and everyone's invited!

FREE GREEN BEER!
FREE corned beef & cabbage, potatoes and Irish stew!
Pots of GOLD for everyone!
FREE LIVE MUSIC (rumor has it, featuring the Dropkick Murphys)!
Dance an Irish jig, for 3/17 is Saint Patrick's Day!

EAT, DRINK, and BE MERRY!

RIF doesn't make any sense in this context. Why send everybody home with their laptops only to fire then and make them come back to turn in the laptops. And specifically just one building and not the others?

Don't know the cause, but there are other things that would make a lot more sense:
Installing new cables or fiber and they have to cut power for some reason. Replacing a wonky furnace/ac. New windows.
