People having long tenures at Nike are not not capable of getting a job elsewhere

Oops! I said it

Are you a tenured employee? Or is your ego feeling threatened by the tenured employees? Tenure WAS viewed as an asset to the company because people WANTED to be there. If they have survived the storm I commend them!

If I had to guess, your position is likely more a product of personal connections than professional competence. The tenured employees had to demonstrate their skills and consistent results to be retained!

I have seen that most tenured people who leave Nike or were laid off go on to have bigger, better careers and are much happier. Not sure why the person who wrote this has such a dire opinion.

I don't miss working at Nike but I do miss the life of luxury there. Basically no responsibility and a $150k salary.

Half my team was laid off and the other half are still there, likely taking their standard two hour lunch breaks and talking about reality tv all day.

People at Nike love to act like they're curing cancer but few actually contribute anything IME.

I found a "better" job in the sense of title, benefits, and creativity but they do expect me to actually work at this one, lol.

As a former sr. Director in a creation function affected by CDA along with many others at my level and above, I would say that if you had a work ethic and integrity at Nike, it will translate elsewhere. Many of us have landed more senior positions at large sports brands and enjoy the work as much if not more as we did behind the berm.
One piece of advice - you will never have it as easy as you had it behind the berm. People who have left and didn't succeed were often able to hide behind team success and politics at Nike, but quickly get exposed when having to face difficult decisions and are being held accountable for them.

people like you who join nike are either the nepo babies or the ones who could only get Nike, have guts? quit and show some game else STFU and take a pic of your 50% discounted rags, and enjoy being a frat who*e.

Disagree. Only those with a long tenure that don't put in work to stay relevant, are not capable of getting a job elsewhere. Many of those people managers come to mind. There are lots of other people here that are really good at what they do.

A large amount of these people managers aren’t fit to run a register at Costco. Reality is going to set in so hard eventually.

Those People Managers will do very well as Politicians. Their fake smiles and empty promises are the world-class!
