Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I'm finally leaving, but I want to leave some advice for those who might be new to T

Watch out for folks who steal your credit and climb the ladder off your hard work. Be wary of managers who make empty promises. Watch for those who point fingers at you when they’ve messed things up themselves.

Avoid leaders who can’t lead. Beware of managers too spineless to defend their team. Don’t trust HR that just follows orders. And whatever you do, stay clear of VPs who think they can do whatever they want...

“ no one asked for your advice”

Here’s some unsolicited advice for you…go hop in a nice bath with your toaster.

"no one asked for your advice"

And no one asked for your comment, so STFU yourself.

"Avoid leaders who can’t lead. Beware of managers too spineless to defend their team."

They are all too spineless to defend their team now. As Mike Ford stated, "we change people, or we change people". If you dare state an opposing opinion to the C-suite, you will be forced to leave.

Good luck to you. The better advice would be to find another job somewhere else fast. This company is stagnant, has no vision, has no innovation. Find companies to work for that are forward-moving, full of vision, and innovative. Don't waste your career at AT&T.

You forgot one. Just when you think you did a great job, know that another person will take credit for the project so they can grab the full Connection Award. Collaboration at its finest!

What a lot of drivel without a real point.

"Avoid leaders who can’t lead."

How do you propose an L1 or L2 do that, exactly? You don't get to pick your "leaders".

"Beware of managers too spineless to defend their team."

Defend their team from what? the L2 AD and the L3 Director you report to have no authority whatsoever. Same as you.

all great advice. some of the main sources where people at att steal your credit, are teams outside of your own. don't share your ideas openly. I did and the former cybersecurity lead plastered my homegrown idea all over a LevelUp townhall. Do not collaborate at att, you'll be beheaded

Bad managers are everywhere. Good managers are more the exception than the rule. This is the same no matter where you go.

RTO is what most companies and Governmental entities are transitioning back to.

Good advice. Unfortunately I think in our world of RTO most managers are like this. All the way up the chain.
