Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Performance-based RIFs

Some say that these RIFs will be based exclusively on performance, while others think that performance will not matter to a large extent this time. Thoughts?

When I got Rif'd in 2015 the majority of the affected people were older, more tenured employees.

@1fhi+1jnqX0jO Hahaha so the company is willing to drag out a PIP instead of cutting the rotten core out during a RiF? That explains the failing strategy.

Not performance based. Those people get pipped out and have no severance.

They won't be performance or geography based. They will be function based, i.e where can they reduce redundancy and/or outsource.

the last wasn't performance based
they let some top performers go
if it really was a third party making the decisions they are sabotaging us

I’d be surpised with work forward if they really think they can pull off geography based RIFs outside of front line retail. If they did is it something else they are hding it under or did work forward fail and they are taking the position that they can’t handle WFH/hybrid?

It will most likely not be a performance base rif if the cuts are geography based which most likely be. It will be done by numerous third parties so they won't know what the performance of the individual are. If they were stacking ranking 5pct across the board then maybe but VZ typically stays away from these for legal matters.
