Andy Jassy said that Amazon’s middle managers want to “put their fingerprint on everything” but haven't been always making the right recommendations. So he’s flattening the hierarchy and giving more power to individual contributors—while calling employees back to work.

@2eg+1jnp69gvd Yeh sadly true, Honeywell is where you go if you have no other option! Not sure about the middle manager thing though, Honeywell scrapes the barrel and employs the absolute worst management, seemingly on purpose!! It has been the most destructive force I have witnessed here. They literally forced the talent out over the last few years. Had they let the talent manage themselves with low interference oversight Honeywell would be a different company.

You need middle management to handle the Honeywell losers. See, Honeywell attracts and retains bottom and mediocre talent (even though there are talented people with either low self-esteem or have a personal situation that keeps them from finding a better company to work for). Basically anybody at Honeywell is there because they feel they have no other options.

I was a Sr. Director before I left Honeywell to work for a much better organization. HW is like the USG fat and bloated with zero leadership.

tried it at honeywell and it was a disaster. flattened out all front line mgrs and quality plummetted. it removed all sense of oversight and project overruns and missed commitments skyrocketed.
