Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Last of the remotes

So we know that the last leg of this battle is with remaining remotes over 1hr commute from RTO.

We know dell is going to target those. No question about that.
How not entirely sure.
But it will be something very heavy handed since they are not very strategic.

So i would guess two approaches will be used

  1. they are put up high on the layoff list
  2. relocate or goodbye.

Was remote - my whole team including manager is spread around the globe. My manager will never be onsite bc of where they live. I was changed to onsite but all remotes have been told to stay home bc there is no office space. So now what - I am at risk bc there is no space??

I have connected workspace addendum to my contract from years ago before covid and was still classified as office based according to that email that came out the other day. I raised with my manager so waiting to see, but I think I should do the state lottery as a back up plan as wfr hasn't come my teams way (yet) and people would be gone in a heartbeat if it did.

All remotes will be terminated.

Hopefully you’ll find a new remote job where it’s not taken away from you as a headcount reduction tactic to increase a company stock price.

If you are providing enough value, you will be fine. But if you are not one of the top 2-3 people in your director’s stack ranking, you will be managed out

depends on the amount of people that will say remote, for sure nothing good, I don't trust this company anymore, leadership lied to us many times in the past (WFH is the future, you can choose hybrid or remote, now this 1h thing)

You're fine if you aren't a slug and actually get some work done as a remote. Promotion on the other hand could be a challenge.

I think it’ll be relocate or goodbye. That way they don’t have to pay severance. They can fire you for cause if you don’t comply with the RTO policy.
