"Primary teams may be dispersed but employees always have local teams they should be engaging with."

No they don't. There are many that have no teammates or even extended teammates (other groups) that are within 200 miles of them.

Because these kind folks put the strong arm on to fill those buildings.
Blackstone, Brookfield Asset Management, and CBRE are 4 big ones.

“If you are not in the office, what are you really doing? Golf? Tennis? Coaching kid's soccer?”

Sitting at my desk working 10 hours like everyone else. Just without the 1hr commute and call center vibes.

"Not to mention some people/teams have no reason to be in an office at all due to type of work, geographic dispersion and hours required (some teams are 24/7/365)."

Primary teams may be dispersed but employees always have local teams they should be engaging with.

“ Most companies and Governmental entities are moving toward RTO. They have proven that employees are more productive and more assessable when they are in the office.“

False.

Several factors for RTO but one is definitely projection from leadership. They came of age when collaboration tools were in their infancy and they really don't understand that in-person isn't required.

It'll take 5 years to cycle out the old bell shaped heads.

Boy we have some real sheep here. Nope. There is no concrete proof and what there is shows the opposite if anything.

It. Is. About. Control. The corporate sector cannot stand and cannot abide by having empowered employees. They love sheep like this commenter.

The irony is that the lack of trust and low morale edicts like RTO produce end up reducing productivity. Both morale and trust are flatlining right now all over the place.

Companies can no longer afford minimal hours for a majority of employees. That’s why RTO has become a much larger mandate beyond T.

"It is backfiring on them just like everything else they’ve done (shocked)."

Stankey's entire career will end up being a case study on how not to manage a corporation.

They don’t care. We can cite study after study that says hybrid is probably the best option and they would still double down on stupid. Not to mention some people/teams have no reason to be in an office at all due to type of work, geographic dispersion and hours required (some teams are 24/7/365).

In the end, this is about workforce reduction and control. It is backfiring on them just like everything else they’ve done (shocked). Eventually it will be seen as the great knee je-k over rotation that it is and a bad decision. The future is a hybrid and a remote workforce with fewer offices whether they like it or not. All of our competitors a hybrid/remote.
